Upcycled Bags Workshop with New Order of Fashion during Dutch Design Week 2023
The public was invited to design one-of-a-kind bags using scraps of fabric, tissue paper, and safety pins. By layering multiple fabric pieces into a single item, we help divert materials from landfills, embracing memories, imperfections, and the beauty of personalization. Tissue paper serves as both a guide and a tactile reminder of the hands and time invested in each bag’s creation; it can be recycled or kept as a decorative touch. Safety pins allow anyone, regardless of skill level, to assemble the layers. They can be easily removed, making it possible to reuse the fabric and support a circular approach to design.
